The amount of information transmitted outside a network needs to be minimal to be comptatible with energy expenditure and long lifetime between battery recharging. With the middleware and architecture described in this article, data is forwarded to and analysed by a hospital network only in certain (critical) cases; otherwise the information is processed locally with the support of data from the patient's case history acquired from the hospital network.
